After Violence Archive
AVP is dedicated to preserving the stories, records, artworks, and other materials of individuals and communities that have endured state violence. We use trauma-informed and person-centered practices to honor our contributors and ensure their archives are documented and made accessible on their own terms via the After Violence Archive (AVA), which currently consists of over 180 oral history interviews in addition to artwork, correspondence, zines, and videos.
American Genre Film Archive
The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) is the world’s largest archive dedicated to genre movies and filmmakers, and the only known 501(c)(3) non-profit genre film distributor. Formed in 2009, AGFA is committed to preserving the legacy of genre films through our archival work, sharing these movies through our home video label, and promoting the power of genre through our theatrical distribution arm.
Andrew Carruthers Chapter NSDAR
The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization founded in 1890, dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. With over 190,000 members in 3,000 chapters worldwide, it is open to women 18+ with documented lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution.
Anomaly Archives
Our collection houses over 7,000 books as well as research materials such as, videos, documents, thousands of periodicals and “zines”, and personal correspondence of researchers and experiencers. We house many great books that discuss a wide range of scientific subjects including: UFOs and Ufology, Consciousness, Parapsychology, Fortean Phenomena, Cryptozoology, ParaPolitical Science, Human Potential, Jungian Theory and More.
Archives at Austin Seminary
The Archives at Austin Seminary collects, preserves, and provides access to material documenting the history of our school (going back to 1902), as well as the work of the Presbyterian Church in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma
Austin Genealogical Society
Austin Genealogical Society promotes an interest in genealogy through education, preservation, and support of genealogical libraries and archival collections.
Austin History Center
The Austin History Center’s mission is to procure, preserve, present, and provide the historical records that make up Austin’s unique story.
Benson Latin American Collection
The Latin American Collection at the University of Texas Libraries was founded in 1921 with the acquisition of the Genaro García collection of 11,000 books, 15,000 pamphlets, 200,000 pages of manuscripts, photographs, newspapers and more. For the last century we have continued to expand our special collections to our current size of more than 4,000 linear feet of manuscripts, letters, maps, photographs, art and countless other one-of-a-kind materials documenting Latin America, the Black Diaspora in the Americas, and Latina/o/x people in the United States.
H.J. Lutcher Stark Center for Physical Culture and Sports
The Stark Center for Physical Culture and Sports is a research and archive center, including galley exhibits, at The University of Texas at Austin dedicated to the study of physical culture — including bodybuilding, weightlifting, strength sports, fitness movements, alternative medicine, and sport history. We are also the repository for UT Athletics historical artifacts and archival materials.
Hogg Foundation for Mental Health Archive
The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health’s archive collects and preserves records that provide evidence of the activities and development of the Hogg Foundation and its mission. These include records of programs funded by the foundation, newsletters, press releases, publications on a wide range of mental health topics, administrative and financial records, event and meeting records, materials related to past foundation directors and staff, and Hogg family artifacts.
LBJ Presidential Library
Situated on a 30-acre site on The University of Texas campus in Austin, Texas, the Library houses 45 million pages of historical documents, 650,000 photos and 5,000 hours of recordings from President Johnson’s political career, including about 643 hours of his recorded telephone conversations.
Munday Library at St. Edward’s University
The Archives and Special Collections in Munday Library focus on the history of St. Edward’s University. Additionally, they hold records for the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, KOOP Radio, and are home to the Texas Craft Brewing, Distilling, and Wine Collections.
Texas Archive of the Moving Image
The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is a digital repository that discovers, preserves, and provides access to the state’s diverse film and video heritage. We safeguard at-risk media through digitization to ensure these unique visual stories are available to explore, share, and enjoy by audiences worldwide.
Texas General Land Office
Established in 1837, the Archives consist of land grant records and maps dating to the 16th century that detail the passage of Texas public lands to private ownership. The GLO Archives and Records is home to more than 35.5 million documents and 45,000 maps, dating back to the year 1561, tracing the history of Texas’ public lands.
Texas Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB)
THRAB serves as an advisory body for historical records planning and supports efforts to preserve and provide access to archival collections throughout the state. Funding for THRAB is provided by the National Historical Publications Records Commission (NHPRC), the grant-making arm of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Texas State Library and Archives Commission
The Archives and Information Services Division (ARIS) of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission preserves and documents the shared heritage and culture of Texas by identifying, collecting, and making available the official archival records of Texas government.
The Portal to Texas History
The Portal to Texas History is free a digital repository for more than 2 million cultural heritage and historic materials from across the state of Texas.
The Texas Collection, Baylor Libraries
Established in 1923, The Texas Collection is an archival research center that documents the history, heritage, and culture of Texas for the Baylor community and the public. It also includes the Baylor Collections of Political Materials, the University Archives, and other collections.
The Wittliff Collections
The Wittliff is a nationally renowned research center, archive, and museum at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. The Wittliff collects, preserves, and presents the cultural heritage of Texas, the Southwest & Mexico through works of the region’s storytellers—writers, photographers, musicians, filmmakers, and other artists—to educate, engage and inspire.
Travis County Archives
The mission of the Travis County Archives is to serve the government and the community of Travis County by documenting, preserving, and making available its records and history.
UT San Antonio Special Collections
Located in San Antonio at UT San Antonio, UTSA Special Collections documents the diverse histories and development of San Antonio and South Texas. With large collections specifically on South Texas History, Chicano/a/x history and Mexican cookbooks, we are publicly accessible and work hard to bring these materials into our community.
